The George Foreman Anniversary Grill was released in 2004, 10 years after the first lean, mean, fat-reducing machine was introduced. With 160 square inches of cooking space, it was one of the largest grills of the time, but was not as versatile as those being produced today. The advertising points included the ability to cook as many as 10 burgers at a time. Judging from the many positive reviews, people were satisfied with the performance.

Many users say that still own their machine and have yet to experience any problems. If you are hoping to buy one new, you can expect to have problems locating one. Finding a used one is even less likely, because the grills get a lot of use and people usually keep them for a long time. All grills released prior to 2007 manufactured by Salton. Applica acquired the company in 2007 and began producing their own designs at that time.

The 360 grills are among their most recent introductions. As the name suggests, the 360 grills are round. Creating the round cooking surfaces accomplished several things. The only complaint people had with the George Foreman Anniversary Grill was uneven cooking near the edges of the 160 inch rectangular surface. The burgers near the center of the surface would cook faster than those on the edges. The round cooking surfaces allow for more even cooking. Foods anywhere on the 106 square inches of cooking space get done at about the same time. Applica was able to lower the suggested retail price for the 360 grills. They can be purchased for as little as .99 with coupons currently available.

The George Foreman Anniversary Grill retailed for .99. Versatility is the main attraction of the 360 grills. It's also the main difference between the new and the older models. In years past, the grills could only be used to cook burgers, steaks and chops. The round grills can be used to make omelets, cook pancakes, make quesadillas and cook the perfect deep-dish pizzas. The attachments needed to make the specialty items are included at the same price point. Thicker cuts of meat can be accommodated because of the new floating hinge design. The adjustments necessary to create the different dishes are easy to make.

The cooking plates are removable and dishwasher safe. The George Foreman Anniversary Grill included a single grease tray, which could easily overflow if fatty meats were used. The 360 grills include two drip trays to reduce the risk of overflow and make clean up easier. Spatulas customized for use with the grills have always been included. If you own one of the older grills and need parts, you can order them direct from the manufacturer or through online retailers. In addition to the new 360 grills, Applica now offers muffin bakers, waffle irons, searing skillets, oven/rotisserie combinations, pancake griddles and more, all bearing the name of the boxing icon.

So the George Foreman Anniversary Grill might be gone, but the new designs live up to the company name.

Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

!±8± Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

I finally broke down and bought a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker and I've got to tell you, I'm glad I did. I have a family of 10 and being able to make two quarts of homemade sherbet, sorbet, and frozen drinks is a real treat.

As I said, I have a family of 10, so we needed a pretty hefty Cuisinart ice cream maker to keep up. We went with the ICE-30BC which I have to say, is pretty well made. It's rugged, looks killer, and works like a charm.

The only flaw is, you have to freeze the bowl for a good 24 hours in order to get your creation to the proper consistency.

The Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker company has another model that I've got my eye on. It's a commercial Cuisinart ice cream maker and it has its own, built-in freezing chamber. That means, no bowl freezing. Just turn it on and 30 minute later, ice cream!

The down side to that is, it's 0. BUT, I also found a similar maker (another brand) for 0 so I guess it's not that bad.

Let me tell you a little bit about the history of this frozen confection, I think you'll find interesting.

The Emperor of Rome (Nero) was credited with having sent his servants into the mountains to collect snow. This was then mixed with nectar, fruit pulp and honey. Sure, it wasn't as convenient as a Cuisinart ice cream maker, but it must have been a tasty treat!

No one knows for sure the origin of this fantastic frozen delight, but in the 13th century, Marco Polo came back from Asia with recipes for 'water ice'. Apparently the Asians had been using them for thousands of years.

Italo Machiony had a cute little pushcart where he sold his homemade frozen dessert on Wall Street. He invented a waffle cone to keep people from running of with his glass cups and patented his idea in 1903.

No matter what you call it, or who made it, whether it contains fruit, nuts, chocolate, or peanut butter (my favorite) you really do need to be able to make your own. Not only is it a bit less expensive, but there are NO preservatives and you can put exactly what you want in it.

If you're looking for a Cuisinart ice cream maker, you definitely want to check out my website for more information.
